US Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has voiced sharp criticism against the Biden administration for what he perceives as a delay in announcing its decision to permit Ukraine to use long-range missiles to target locations within Russia. McConnell accused the administration of having 'unsubstantiated' fears of potential escalation.
McConnell went on to state, 'History will record hesitation, indecision, and cowardice as the hallmarks of this administration's Ukraine policy from the beginning.' He expressed frustration over what he described as months of indecision and belated assistance being provided by the Biden administration.
The Republican leader highlighted that the delay in granting permission for the use of more advanced weaponry on the battlefield could have potential implications, although he noted that it is currently 'too early to tell' the exact impact on the ground situation. McConnell warned that the next commander-in-chief would inherit a world of heightened threats due to what he perceives as the Biden administration's hesitancy and incomplete measures.
Despite some within his party advocating for a cessation of aid to Ukraine, McConnell has remained a staunch supporter of the country. He criticized the administration for what he views as a delayed response in providing necessary assistance to Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
