It was when Novak Djokovic lost to Mariano Navone in the first round of the US Open last month when I thought that’s it for the Serb. Djokovic is done.
Navone is a good but certainly not great tennis player and Djokovic's loss to him proved, I thought, that he's so far past his best that it’s only a matter of time before he retires. After all, it’s no fun for anyone losing to someone well below you in the rankings in the very first round of a grand slam, never mind if you’re arguably the greatest tennis player who has ever lived.
