Maya Jama warns fans of 'lies' as she addresses career rumours

Maya Jama has warned fans not to believe any rumour unless it comes directly from her. It comes after an apparent report the Love Island presenter was expected to hold a meet and greet in London was proved false by the Bristolian herself.

The presenter is currently hosting the 10th series of Love Island. The latest series on ITV2 has seen a new batch of young couple search for their perfect partner under the Mallorca sunshine.

The series have proven popular so far, with a reported three million fans tuning in to watch the launch of Maya's first summer series - doubling the show's audience. While receptions to the latest series have been mixed, fans still flock to the show in hopes of getting a glimpse of Maya.

The radio DJ posted a snapshot today (June 29) of a conversation with an unnamed fan to her Instagram stories after boasting about finally finding a green juice which does not "taste of sewage". The fan messaged: "Mayaaa are you doing a meet and greet with an agency in London today, or is that lies."

Maya responded: "That is lies! Don't believe any of that stuff unless I post it."

The DJ has recently been praised by fans after shutting down a troll who claimed Maya had "no apparent talent". In a since-deleted comment, the troll commented on an Instagram post: "Such a weird culture we live in when such people are given such privilege despite having no apparent talent of any kind. It used to matter what a person said or did in order to become well-known."

"Now all we do is elevate and celebrate people that merely look 'good'," they added, with an "eye roll" emoji. Bristol-born Maya was quick to educate the commenter on her many successes as she joked it was "defo no hard graft though, purely just my face".

"I actually moved from home at 16 and started on YouTube and then hosted a shown on Rinsefm for a few years before hosting on MTV and then 4music," Maya casually hit back. "Had a shown on BBC radio 1 for a couple years and hosted about 100 tv shows & currently hosting 1 of the biggest shows in the UK but yeah Google will tell you anything else you need to know.

"Defo no hard graft though purely just my face x."
