Maya Jama sparks Love Island demand as viewers threaten to switch off 'boring' episode

Maya Jama has been credited with 'saving' Love Island, just as some unimpressed viewers came close to switching off Tuesday's episode, branding it one of the 'most boring ever.' and demanding the new presenter is given more airtime.

After all the hype surrounding the new series and Maya becoming its new host, Love Island returned to screens for its second winter run on Monday night, with overnight figures suggested the first episode, blighted by ITV issues, attracted less than two million viewers, way down on past series launches.

And, based on some of the scathing comments about Tuesday's show, that number could soon fall further as Twitter was full of complaints about the apparent lack of anything interesting happening, other than the arrival of first bombshell Tom, who appeared right at the end of Monday's programme.

It didn't take long for viewers to hover over the remote and consider changing channels, as well as longing for Maya to make an appearance. One took to Twitter to post: "This is all getting boring now… bring Maya back," and saying pretty much the same thing, another tweeted: "This episode is quite boring might as well just bring back Maya again."

Taking things further, another reacted: "I’d rather just watch Maya Jama walking in and out of that villa for a full hour than watching these drips & their scripted boring generic conversations," with a fourth complaining: "I’d rather just watch Maya Jama walking in and out of that villa for a full hour than watching these drips & their scripted boring generic conversations"

The demands for Maya to get more airtime come as it's being reported that IOTV bosses are already so impressed by her that they're keen to 'te her down' to a big money deal.
