Maya Jama excites Love Island fans who can't wait for star to 'add spice' to the show

A teasing advert for the upcoming series of Love Island starring Maya Jama has excited fans for the Bristolian beauty's debut. Maya, who grew up in Bristol and attended Cotham School, has lit up viewers' televisions in a new advert being aired by ITV ahead of the launch of the second winter series of Love Island.

The trailer, which lasts just a few seconds, shows a glowing Maya being slowly lit up by a spotlight whilst part of the well-known Love Island theme tune plays. The 28-year-old presenter looks radiant as the light falls on her glittery celestial-themed jumpsuit and her softly curled hair blows gently around her.

ITV2 has been teasing fans with another trailer which, cryptically, shows a pink velour bucking bronco, embellished with a diamante heart. It is currently unknown what relevance this bears to the upcoming series of Love Island, for which an official release date is yet to be announced.

Following Laura Whitmore's exit from the show this summer and a lot of speculation, Maya Jama was announced as the next host of Love Island in October. Maya said at the time: "I've always been such a massive Love Island fan and I'm so excited to be hosting one of the nation's favourite shows! I can't wait to get into the villa to meet all of the Islanders."

After the release of the trailers, fans have been expressing their excitement to see Maya slow-mo walk into the villa to drop bombshells and assist with recouplings. It goes without saying that we also can't wait to see Maya steal the show and bring a slice of Bristol to our screens.

With 2023 just around the corner, a lot of viewers are wondering when we can expect to receive a healthy dose of South African sunshine through our screens. Although ITV hasn't confirmed an official start date for the show, it has been widely reported that the first episode will land on our televisions on Monday, January 16.

This seems pretty accurate, given the first ever winter series in 2020 started on January 12, so it's likely that ITV are planning a mid-month start date for the series. Of course, when a start date is confirmed, we'll let you know.
