Max Holloway is back in the mix.
The former UFC featherweight champion has been medically cleared from the injury that saw him forced out of a championship trilogy bout against current champ Alexander Volkanovski.
MMA Junkie confirmed the news following a report from ESPN on Friday.
Holloway (23-6 MMA, 19-6 UFC) and Volkanovski were originally scheduled to meet at UFC 272 on March 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, in early January Holloway pulled out of the fight due to injury. The UFC then replaced Holloway with Chan Sung Jung and the featherweight title fight was moved to UFC 273 on April 9.
Now healthy to compete, Holloway has offered to serve as a replacement for Volkanovski vs. “The Korean Zombie” in case either fighter is forced to withdraw from the bout.
