Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of his pride in Harry Kane after the striker became Tottenham Hotspur's all-time leading goalscorer during Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Having pounced on lacklustre play by Pep Guardiola's side in the 15th minute, Kane characteristically made no mistake by slotting past Ederson to score his 267th goal for the club and overtake Jimmy Greaves to claim top-spot in the goalscoring ranks.
Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Kane revealed: "It’s hard to put it into words, just a magical moment and I was so desperate to do it with a win as well, I wanted to win so bad. Once we went 1-0 up it was just about keeping the clean sheet and to do it in front of the home fans just a moment I’ll never forget.

"Especially being here at home in front of the fans, there’s been so much talk about it over the last couple of weeks and I just wanted to get it done as soon as possible so to do it in a big game against one of the best teams in the world, it’s a special feeling."
Whilst the England international received a phone-call from current boss Antonio Conte, who is recovering from a gallbladder operation in his native Italy, it is little surprise to see Pochettino congratulate Kane on such an achievement.
The pair were known to have enjoyed a superb relationship during their time together in north London and it was under the Argentine when Kane, arguably, played his best football. Pochettino famously guided Spurs to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final in 2019 and constructed teams that were unfortunate to miss out on Premier League titles in 2016 and 2017.
Pochettino posted an Instagram story which read: “Congratulations 267! Very proud of you @harrykane."
Under Pochettino, Kane played 242 games in all competitions for Spurs, netting an eye-watering 169 goals before the former was sacked following an underwhelming start to the 2019/2020 campaign.
Despite being linked with an emotional return to north London on a few occasions since his departure, Pochettino was appointed PSG manager in 2021 and led the club to the Ligue 1 title a year later. He parted ways with the Parisians at the end of last season.
Links with, what seems like, every high-profile vacancy within the footballing world have led to no avail, and Pochettino's next steps are unclear. He did, though, dip his feet into the world of punditry during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Pochettino's name has been strongly placed in the bookies' running for the Leeds United managerial role. The Whites parted ways with American chief Jesse Marsch following their 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, a result which leaves Leeds hovering dangerously above the relegation zone.
According to SkyBet, West Bromwich Albion boss, Carlos Corberan is the favourite at 11/10 with Rayo Vallecano's Rayo Vallecano second in at 2/1.
Pochettino finds himself at 8/1 just behind Marsch's predecessor Marcelo Bielsa at 9/2. Ex-Southampton chief Ralph Hasenhuttl brings up the rear of the top five at 11/1.
