Reece James has the potential to get back to his very best under Mauricio Pochettino, but maintaining peak fitness will be crucial to that occurring. After Kyle Walker at Tottenham and Achraf Hakimi with Paris Saint-Germain, Pochettino will now work with another world-class right-back in James at Stamford Bridge.
Injuries plagued the 2022/23 campaign for James but a summer refresh looks to have come at the perfect time following another minor setback. With players given time off, James was spotted at the Barcelona Grand Prix alongside Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount, where he was asked about Chelsea's troublesome campaign and the appointment of Pochettino.
"It's been a tough year," he told Sky Sports. "We've had lots of injuries and didn't finish in the best position [in the Premier League]. Hopefully, next year is better." On Pochettino, he added. "Everyone has been saying he's a great manager and hopefully next season we find our feet early. Hopefully we're a good, strong side."
