This time last year, there were a lot of Matthew Stafford doubters. From fans to analysts, many wondered if Stafford would ever return to being a top quarterback in the NFL after battling through an elbow issue in 2022 and then suffering a season-ending spinal cord contusion.
Needless to say, he silenced all of his critics with a fantastic 2023 season, finishing eighth in MVP voting and fourth in the Comeback Player of the Year race.
With the season wrapped up, everyone is looking ahead to 2024 and for Stafford, expectations are much higher. After having the 19th-best MVP odds at this time last year, Stafford now has the 11th-best odds to win the award next season.
According to BetMGM, Stafford is +2000 ($100 to win $2,000) to win 2024 NFL MVP, just behind Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts (+1600), and slightly ahead of Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence and Aaron Rodgers (+2500).
Patrick Mahomes is the favorite at +600, while the reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson, has the fifth-best odds at +1200. Former Rams quarterback Jared Goff has the 17th-best odds at +4000.
If you’re feeling risky, you can bet Puka Nacua to win NFL MVP at +20000 odds, so a $100 bet wins $20,000. Cooper Kupp is +30000 to win it, but those are the only other Rams players listed with odds; Aaron Donald and Kyren Williams are unavailable to bet.
