Matt Targett felt that Aston Villa 'wanted it more' during Newcastle United's 3-0 defeat at Villa Park.
The former Villa star made his return to the venue he left last season and boosted his own fitness levels but could only do so in losing manner. The encounter proved to be Newcastle's heaviest loss of the campaign and brought their winning run to a crushing end.
Targett, speaking in the mixed zone after the game, said it was a fair result: "I think so. They looked like they wanted it a bit more.

"Which is a bit disappointing on our behalf. It was nice to get back out there and get some minutes under my belt. Hopefully I can kick on from there."
Targett has not been able to get in the side with Dan Burn holding down the left-back slot despite being fielded out of position. When asked about his personal struggle after a heel injury, Targett was philosophical.
The left-back said: "It's been difficult. I understand what has been going on. Obviously the injury has been difficult. It was a big setback. But the team has been unbelievable. It is hard to change a winning team.
"At the moment they have the best defensive record in the Premier League so I know it is hard for me to get back in. But I have been as professional as I can. When I get the opportunity I want to show the manager I am ready to play."
