It was just two years ago that Matt Rhule signed an enormous contract to become the Carolina Panthers’ head coach, with the franchise hoping it was for a LONG time.
The team handed him a reported seven-year contract worth $62 million, and it’s obvious now that the Panthers fired him after an awful 1-4 start that he won’t be around to fulfill all seven years.
But the Panthers are on the hook to pay him. And, hoo boy, he’s going to be paid a lot over the next few years not to coach the Panthers.
Just how much are we talking about here?
Former Panthers’ HC Matt Rhule now leaves the Panthers being owed north of $40 million.
