Matt O'Riley provides 'chilled' Celtic future update and his Christopher Jullien 'sense of sadness'

Matt O'Riley welcomes big name interest - but it's not something that will draw him away from Celtic.

The midfielder has been linked with a clutch of Premier League clubs this summer - including Manchester United - after his stellar form for boss Ange Postecoglou. He only joined in January from MK Dons and O'Riley says the transfer market frenzy can be problematic for players. In his case though, because of how settled he is at Celtic, it's been a breeze this time around.

The Danish youth international said: "Transfer times are a really awkward time. The fans are excited. For the players, staff and the club, it can be stressful. Especially for players who are maybe trying to get a move. I’m in the position right now where it is quite chilled for me. I’m not really thinking about much. I love my football here, so that makes it quite easy for me. It’s nice. It shows I’m doing good things."

O'Riley has also been shown what it means to be a Hoops player after the level of loved showed to them by departing players like Christopher Jullien, who has departed for Montpellier, alongside Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton's exits.

He added: “Chris brought a fun vibe, he was a bubbly character. Someone who was laid back in and around the training ground but also a nice guy to be around, which was cool.

"It’s the same with anyone who leaves, there is always a sense of sadness. Especially Tom and Niro last season. We know how much they meant to the whole club. It shows how much of a family club Celtic really is.”
