Leicester City are interested in Celtic star turn Matt O'Riley, according to reports.
The English Premier League side have placed the the 21-year-old on their summer wish list as they look to make their first signing this transfer window. O'Riley made his way to Parkhead from MK Dons in January this year in a move worth £1.5million. He has since featured 19 times for Ange Postecoglou 's side, turning heads with his ye-catching displays.
The Denmark Under-21 international previously spent 18 months at Stadium MK in England's League One following his exit from Fulham. And now he is again catching the eye of sides south of the border with ex-Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers said to be keen on the star, according to The Telegraph. Leicester are in the market for two central midfielders this summer, with emerging star O'Riley fitting the bill after a successful half season at Celtic upon arrival. It is not the first time that Rodgers has eyed up players from his former club, with Leicester previously linked with Josip Juranovic and Odsonne Edouard.
However, the rumours did not come to anything. And it seems that The Foxes interest in O'Riley will have a similar outcome. Celtic are unlikely to let the midfielder depart, with four years still remaining on his Parkhead contract. He is likely have a key role in Ange Postecoglou's squad during the 2022/23 campaign and the Celtic boss is hell bent on retaining him.
And to further diminish Leicester's hopes of landing the star, the East Midlands outfit are currently facing a transfer logjam. Despite being keen to bolster his side ahead of the new season, Rodgers is limited as his side need to move players on before they fully dive into the summer market.
The side are yet to make a signing this transfer window with the sale of players including Youri Tielemans needed to help provide the required finances and balance out the wage bill.
