Matt Hancock voted for second I'm A Celeb trial as he's gunged in gruesome debut

Matt Hancock was left "nervous", as he made his gruesome arrival on I'm A Celebrity 2022 - only to learn on Wednesday that he had been picked for his second trial.

It followed as disgraced Hancock took on a gruesome task with comedian Seann Walsh, before being introduced to his campmates.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were loving every moment, as Hancock dived into a dark tunnel, before being covered in bugs and drenched in slime in his first trial.

The Beastly Burrows saw both of the contestants entering a dark tunnel, with them having to crawl around to look for stars.

Immediately, worms and other bugs rained down on them and as Hancock travelled through the narrow spaces, he was met with gunge - while hosts Ant and Dec smirked as they watched the trial take place.

As both contestants screamed out every time slime fell on them, Seann ended up shouting at his co-star as he asked which way he wanted him to go.

More and more screams were heard as the task continued - mainly from Seann who wasn't coping very well at all.

But now Hancock must do it all again - and he didn't exactly get the backing of his co-stars, when Ant and Dec announced he had been chosen by the public for the next trial.

As the hosts shared the news it came as no surprise to the group who all began shouting "told you", moments after viewers saw many of them hitting out at Hancock's arrival.

Boy George even contemplated leaving the show, as Sue Cleaver made it clear she wasn't going to let it get to her - and others noticed the "tension" in camp.

Back to Wednesday's ending, when Hancock learned his trial fate, and he admitted he was "nervous" but had already expected viewers to pick him.

M ost of the line-up have made it publicly known at some point in the past two years that they are no fan of the MP - thanks to him breaking his own strict rules, that so many of the public followed.

So it was no surprise when their arrival led to a few digs and awkward looks from the likes of Sue, Boy George and Chris Moyles.

Charlene White grilled him on his decision to do the show, and called out his answer - as others shared they weren't sure how to be around him.

Meanwhile, Boy George wasted no time in telling Hancock: "You’re really going to get it. You’re really going to get it. Not from me. I mean just from…"

Hancock's campmate Mike Tindall slammed politicians in December 2021 for breaking Covid-19 rules, as he said they should take a leaf out of the Queen's book - after she sat alone at her husband Prince Philip's funeral due to lockdown restrictions.

He urged MPs to "learn from her' instead of flouting Covid restrictions they imposed at around the same time as the Duke's funeral.

Boy George has also shared his dislike of the Tory party publicly in the past, tweeting in 2011: "The tories are such pompous t***s", before taking a swipe at Hancock over his comments on paedophile Jimmy Savile in 2020.

TV star Scarlette Douglas tweeted about Hancock when his affair scandal emerged, with this leading to him resigning.

Following his exit, Scarlette tweeted in response: "Good, get out of here."

"He'll be looking for a place in the sun now," replied one fan, to which Scarlette wrote back: "As long as I'm not his presenter," before agreeing he should have been sacked.

Hancock's co-star Seann, who entered the same time as him, made light of his affair scandal last year - referencing his own cheating.

As they both ended up on the front page of The Sun, he quipped at the time: "Having a bad day @MattHancock? Just count yourself lucky you don’t have to learn the Charleston."

Meanwhile, a camp mission could see both new arrivals at risk of causing further tension in their bid to win luxury items for their campmates.

The pair have been set tasks for their first few days in camp, which could well rub their co-stars up the wrong way - from getting Chris' name wrong, to stealing someone's belongings.

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
