Matt Hancock's 'return to work' vow in doubt as girlfriend is spotted jetting to Australia

Crew working on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! have been left wondering if Matt Hancock really will rush back home after his jungle adventure.

Matt’s girlfriend Gina Coladangelo is heading out to Australia despite his claims he will be flying straight home to his constituency when he is evicted.

The disgraced MP's team have been at pains to suggest he was working up until going into camp.

And in his ITV interview as a late entry he was asked what he plans to do post jungle - and Matt stressed the "first thing he would be doing" was returning to Suffolk to hold a surgery with his constituents.

He added: “I will be back in Suffolk holding surgeries and in Parliament and we will take it from there."

However, normally all the evicted contestants from the series have a few days holiday and then return to camp and sit in the studio alongside hosts Ant and Dec for the final on November 27.

If Matt is one of the first evicted that would mean a week in Australia before the final is filmed.

And it is understood his girlfriend will not arrive until near the end of this week when evictions start.

This means she would have to fly back again having barely landed if Matt was to come good on his claims about returning home promptly.

A spokesman for Matt insisted things were being judged on a day by day basis regarding his movements.

In a statement they added: "Once Matt's time on the programme is up, Matt will return to Suffolk to hold surgeries where he will catch up with his constituents and discuss matters of concern.

"Matt's excellent team continue to deal with constituency matters, as they already do while he's in Westminster."

ITV said they would not comment on specific details of a celebrity's contract.

The Mirror exclusively revealed how Matt’s campmates are ‘seething’ he is getting so much air time.

So far he has been nominated to do six bushtucker trials in a row as he tries to win over the public.

Writing in his I’m A Celeb column for Mirror Online, former campmate Jake Quickenden said this year’s stars are growing tired of it being ‘The Matt Hancock show’.

He said: “I think the mood in camp has had a shift. People seem to be getting slightly more annoyed, especially Boy George and Chris Moyles, and I think this is down to this year's series becoming "The Matt Hancock show".

“I think the campmates will be getting annoyed about the fact Mr Hancock is getting all the airtime, you see some little digs when he’s voted, and some people are seeming to pretend they are happy they haven’t been voted for it.

“But it can get so boring at times that you can be begging for a trial just so you can have a change of scenery.”
