Matt Hancock has reportedly been asked to sign up for the next series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The former Health Secretary, 43, is said to have been asked to take part during a meeting with producers, making him the first serving MP to have been approached about appearing on the Channel 4 show.
If he agrees, the Tory MP — who ran last year’s London Marathon and did a 100 mile trek around Mount Blanc — will be put through his paces by former US marine Rudy Reyes.
Matt is said to be hoping the show will portray him in a new light after his affair with his aide Gina Coladangelo in May.
"Matt impressed Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins producers when he spoke to them and they want him to take part. He would be the biggest name to have signed up for the next series and it would be a real coup for the show.
"Matt knows there is a mixed perception of him in the public eye and he thinks going on the show would reveal a different side to himself," a source told The Sun.
A Channel 4 spokesman told The Mirror: "In the best traditions of the SAS, this mission is confidential. However, full details will be released when the series broadcasts next year.
"In the meantime, tune into the current series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Sunday nights at 9pm on Channel 4."
A spokesman for Mr Hancock told The Mirror: "Matt gets a huge number of offers and is asked to appear on TV shows all the time but he has not signed up to anything."
Former TOWIE star James 'Arg' Argent is also said to have signed up for the new series after losing a whopping 14 stone since having gastric band surgery last year.
The reality star is thought to want to take part in the show in order to "deal with some of the demons" from his past.
"He's decided to sign up because he's in great health now, he's sober, he's doing it to try and deal with some of the demons from his past.
"He'll talk about the mental health aspects of getting clean and sober and losing weight," a source told OK!.
James' representatives have been contacted for comment.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is currently on our screens now, with stars such as EastEnders ' Maisie Smith, Olympic legend Fatima Whitbread and Love Island's Amber Gill taking part.
The gruelling nature of some of the tasks on the programme mean the stars must be in peak physical condition to take part.
So far, celebrities have been tasked with jumping out of a helicopter and abseiling down a sheer cliff face.
