Former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz has been reaching out to Republican senators in an effort to appeal for an open-minded approach following his nomination by President-elect Donald Trump as attorney general. GOP Sen. Josh Hawley disclosed that Gaetz had personally contacted him last week, urging him to 'give him a shot' and expressing a desire to address the allegations during his confirmation hearing next year.
Hawley, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, refrained from commenting on whether he wished to review the House Ethics report on Gaetz, stating his belief that the information would likely become public knowledge regardless of his personal stance.
