Mathieu van der Poel to miss a third race due to rib injury, sitting out Dendermonde World Cup

Mathieu van der Poel crests the sand climb in Zonhoven.

Cyclocross world champion Mathieu van der Poel has withdrawn from the third race in a row, announcing he would miss Sunday's UCI Cyclocross World Cup in Dendermonde.

The reigning world champion opted out of racing the sandy X2O Trophy in Koksijde on Friday and the GP Sven Nys on January 1 due to the rib injury he sustained after Christmas.
