Matheus Nunes has revealed playing in the Premier League was a long-term ambition of his after Wolves paid a club-record fee to make his dream a reality.
The 23-year-old was strongly linked with Liverpool in recent weeks but Jurgen Klopp has made clear that the Reds will only target players who completely fit their ideal profile and will not be forced into panic buying.
Wolves' close links to the agent of Nunes, Jorge Mendes, certainly played a pivotal role in the process of this transfer move, as well as the West Midlands-based club already owning a number of players from Portugal who are likely to ease the new arrival's transition period.

Explaining the main reasons behind his summer switch, the midfielder told WolvesTV : "I think the club itself [convinced him] and also I spoke to some of my teammates because I play with them for the national team. The coach as well, he really wanted me, and I wanted to play in the Premier League. I think it’s the right next step for me and I’m very happy to be here.
"Ruben [Neves], [Joao] Moutinho, I spoke to all of them and asked them stuff, and they all said great stuff about the club – [Jose] Sa as well, so I’m glad to be here.
"I’ve wanted to come here for a long time now. This is the best league in the world for sure and, like I said, it’s the best step for me and I’m ready.
"I wanted to know what the mister [manager] expects from me, and it’s good to know he has a lot of expectations on me, that he believes in me, and that gives me the will to work hard and prove that he’s right as well."
Liverpool will find out soon enough just how good the former Sporting Lisbon star is when taking on Bruno Lage's side this season. The Reds first take on Wolves at Anfield next month before meeting again at Molineux in February.
