Mateusz Zukowski to Rangers is reportedly close to being done.
The Ibrox club are understood to be close to agreeing a deal for the 20-year-old Polsih right back.
Football Scotland reports that a deal for Zukowski has been in the pipeline and sources in Poland say the player is likely to put pen to paper before the January transfer window closes tomorrow night.
It is understood the player was at Ibrox this afternoon thrashing out terms on a deal.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been on the lookout for cover in case captain James Tavernier is unavailable, hanging sold previous understudy Nathan Patterson to Everton in a club record £16million deal.
And the champions appear to have fended off competition from Legia Warsaw to land Zukowski.
The full back joined Gdansk’s academy seven years ago and has established himself as a key player in their first team this season.
He’ll join James Sands and Amad Diallo as the Gers’ winter window signings, although it remains to be seen whether another move will be made for John Souttar.
Hearts rejected a £300,000 bid last week with Robbie Neilson reiterating his intention to keep Souttar at Tynecastle until the summer.
Injury to Craig Halkett has only strengthened the Jambos’ resolve and unless a big deadline day offer is forthcoming, then the capital club are confident that Souttar will still be a Hearts player by the time Tuesday night’s Edinburgh derby comes around.
