Mateusz Bogusz season has ended prematurely after he injured his anterior cruciate ligament whilst playing on loan for UD Ibiza in La Liga 2.
The 20-year-old is set for surgery on an injury that has interrupted what was a very bright season in Spain and he took to his Instagram stories to send a message to fans about his return.
"Thank you for all messages... will [be] back stronger," said the caption, published alongside a picture of the midfielder laying on the ground.
He will hope to be able to return in the summer, as his future at Elland Road is up in the air. During Marcelo Bielsa's time at the club, young players who have moved out on loan have typically not had a future at the club and Bogusz had been performing in a way that suggested he might secure a good move for himself next season.
The Polish U21 international had manged to score four goals and assist seven in his 21 appearances thus far in 21/22 and had established himself as a regular starter for Ibiza. This was a notable improvement on last season, where he had been on loan in the same division, playing for UD Logrones. However, he only managed 23 appearances in the league over the course of the whole season, providing only one goal and one assist.
Leeds signed the midfielder from Ruch Chorzow in January 2019 and the Pole was highly thought of during his time at the club. However, as the club has progressed, elite prospects like Lewis Bate have been brought to the club and Bogusz' future appears to be elsewhere.
