It’s almost that time of year when Matalan teams up with Alder Hey to release its much loved pyjama collection.
In recent years, the Matalan x Alder Hey pyjamas have proved hugely popular with customers with many shoppers buying several pairs for the whole family. Each year the collection includes adult and children’s pyjamas, plus matching outfits for pets.
The pyjamas come in a different design each year and there’s not long to wait until we find out what this year’s collection will look like. Last year’s range featured a festive design, with a Christmas tree print on the sleeves and bottoms, plus a picture of Alder Hey mascot Oli the Elephant on the top and the slogan ‘Have a jolly Oli Christmas’.

In previous years, we’ve also seen designs including spots, stars and stripes and pyjamas with positive slogans including ‘be kind’ and ‘believe in yourself’. Details of what this year’s pyjamas will look like are of course being kept a big secret until they go on sale and today we can reveal when that will be. You will be able to buy the Matalan x Alder Hey 2022 pyjama collection from Monday, September 26.
Each year the collection, which is also available to buy online, raises vital funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital here in Liverpool, with 100% of proceeds from sales supporting the vital work they do in supporting children.
Many people like to buy the pyjamas to wear over the Christmas period and it’s not uncommon to see entire families wearing the matching collection in festive selfies on social media. For many, buying the pyjamas is one of the things that mark the countdown to Christmas and offers a massive opportunity for shoppers to support the important work carried out by Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
The fundraising initiative has been well supported by celebrities in previous years, with stars including Alesha Dixon, Denise Van Outen and Mark Wright having appeared in the campaign.
