MasterChef Australia Fans Have One Thing To Say About *That* Intense Semi-Final Challenge

We’ve officially reached the pointy end of MasterChef Australia 2026, with our final three battling it out for a spot in the top two at the grand finale. However, with the chaos of the semi-final service challenge, fans seemingly have one thing to say about the culinary shebang.

This article contains MasterChef Australia spoilers. You’ve been warned.

In case you weren’t following along with MasterChef Australia‘s semi-final, our top threeAaron Kher, Petro Papathomas and Vinnie Gibaldi — were tasked with a high-pressure service challenge, where they must serve two dishes for over 20 diners.

But of course, with each bloke trying to prove themselves worthy of the final, there were a BUNCH of road bumps.

After all, these *were* home cooks who’ve taken a risk to join MasterChef Australia, so obviously, not everything is going to be Michelin Star quality stuff (and if you’ve worked in hospo, you would know how hectic working in a kitchen could be).

One of the biggest struggles was Petro’s milk, which devastatingly split, causing him to pace around the kitchen three times. Honestly, it was truly an emotional moment.

Another was that Aaron had tunnel vision for his granita dessert, which chomped into the time he had for his main, which included three sauces.

With so much pressure, emotions and road bumps, MasterChef Australia fans claimed that our final three didn’t have enough experience to navigate a service challenge.

Fans react to the MasterChef Australia semi-final

Overall, it appears that there were about three service challenges this season, including this semi-final extravaganza — with the first on in episode 14 and the second one taking place in episode 42.

But as someone who is sat at home and is joined at the hip with a Costco air fryer, I am in awe of what our final three have conjured up — even with the judges’ opinions.

The MasterChef Australia 2026 grand finale kicks off Sunday, August 9.
