Everything You Need To Know About Meghan Markle’s Surprise Cameo On MasterChef Australia 2026

This year’s season of MasterChef Australia may be quickly approaching its end, but there’s still one massive surprise in store for the remaining contestants: Meghan Markle‘s stint as a celebrity guest judge.

Network 10 announced back in April that the Duchess of Sussex would be stopping by the iconic MasterChef kitchen to help our judges, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli, mentor our new batch of top home cooks.

And if you’re wondering where Andy Allen is, don’t fret. The fan-favourite was on maternity leave alongside his wife, Alexandra Allen, towards the end of filming.

The Duchess’ reality TV cameo was a part of her first Australian visit since 2018, and considering her recent projects — such as her Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan and her line of food products, As Ever By Meghan, Duchess of Sussex — it makes sense as to why she would jump into the MasterChef Australia universe.

When does Meghan Markle’s episode of MasterChef Australia air?

Meghan’s set to appear as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia on Sunday, July 26, at 7pm.

Channel 10 released a statement teasing that she will be setting a challenge for the remaining contestants to “create dishes that celebrate seasonal ingredients and the personal stories behind them”. The ingredient options are: carrots, Jerusalem artichokes, Brussels sprouts, celeriac, local Australian honey, macadamia nuts, quince, lemons, apples, mandarins and strawberries.

“These are all things that, for me, feel really nostalgic”, Meghan explained in a teaser. “I’d love it if there’s a connection that you can find when, as you’re cooking something, what is the story behind it? What is something from your family or from a memory… something sentimental that we can also taste as we taste your dish.”

The mother-of-two added that it was “an easy yes” appearing on MasterChef Australia because of two things: her love of food and her love of Australia.

“It’s such a great show. I’m just really honoured that I was asked to be able to be here with you and to be able to judge some of these meals,” she said.

This isn’t the first time a royal has stopped by the MasterChef Australia kitchen. In 2018, for the show’s 10th season, then-Prince Charles made a surprise cameo. However, he refused to eat anything.

Alongside Meghan, Aussie royalty Robert Irwin and Jimmy Barnes have both made appearances on this year’s season of MasterChef Australia.

You can catch MasterChef Australia 2026 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
