Firefighers are mobilised in the Fontainebleau forest south of Paris to contain a major fire that started Sunday and has since forced the evacuation of residents in the area and shut down a major highway at the start of a busy summer holiday travel weekend.
The fire in the forest about 60 kilometres south-east of Paris had burned through 800 hectares by Monday morning and was still spreading.
