No further progress has been made on a new contract for Mason Mount at Chelsea, leaving the door open for a summer raid by Liverpool.
That's according to the Evening Standard, who have reported that the West London club is planning to ship out as many as eight senior players at the end of the season, in order to rebalance their 33-man squad.
Household names like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic could all be offloaded, but the situation with rumoured Reds target Mount is reaching a critical stage.

Mount, who has has enlisted the help of Neil Fewings from the ROOF football agency to act on his behalf, has 16 months left on his current deal but is believed to be holding out for a significant improvement on his current terms. Up to now, Chelsea have not been prepared to match that.
The 24-year-old has seen new team-mates such as Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk join the capital club on better deals and feels that he should be more equally enumerated as a consequence.
The Evening Standard says that Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been cited as possible destinations for Mount if a new deal can not be agreed, with Chelsea likely to want to cash on their academy graduate rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in 16 months time.
