Chelsea star Mason Mount has broken his silence on speculation that he could join Manchester United in the summer transfer window. Mount, along with team-mates Reece James and Ben Chilwell are attending the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix this weekend.
The 24-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his current deal at Stamford Bridge with talks over a renewal proving unsuccessful so far. United are now leading the race to sign Mount this summer despite interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
A source told football.london that just before the FIFA World Cup that took place last year, the 24-year-old midfielder was optimistic an agreement over a new deal could be reached. However, with a new-look transfer team in place at Chelsea following the World Cup, the offer presented to Mount and his entourage was no longer on the table upon his return to west London.

Erik ten Hag's side are yet to make an official offer for the Blues midfielder, but senior figures at United have begun discussions with Chelsea and made clear their desire to sign the England international. James admitted it would be 'sad' to see Mount leave the club this summer, whilst Chilwell also urged his team-mate to stay.
Now, Mount has responded to rumours linking him with a switch to Old Trafford after reports revealed that is his preferred destination if he leaves Stamford Bridge ahead of next season. During Sky Sports' coverage of the Spanish Grand Prix, presenter Martin Brundle posed the question to the Chelsea star about a possible move to United.
Brundle said: "He [Ben Chilwell] said you're going to Man United!" To which Mount laughed and replied: "No I'm just here to enjoy this race today, an amazing day, I can't wait to watch it!"
