Natalie Appleton managed to make it all the way through The Masked Singer without being rumbled by the panel, as fans were left screaming at the TV on Saturday night at them missing a very obvious final clue to her being Fawn.
From the moment she performed Disney classic Beauty and the Beast in her first week, Fawn has been a frontrunner in the eyes of both Masked Singer viewers and bookies, who had her as the narrow favourite to win series four, going into this weekend. Fawn was up against Rhino and Phoenix for this year's title and went for the win with a cover of Grease classic Hopelessly Devoted to You.
After her performance, host Joel Dommett gave the panel a chance to guess at Fawn's identity and, as he took his turn, Jonathan Ross revisited a clue from the semi final, saying it had dawned on him that the November 1 reference on the calendar pointed to All Saints Day. But, rather than guess Natalie, the talk show host predicted it was her bandmate Shaznay Lewis behind the mask.
Two clues way back in week one had many fans sure it was an All Saints star inside the Fawn costume, before picking up on Natalie's vocal. A 'no milk in hercoffee' reference in Fawn' first clue package was a very clear nod to the All Saints number one hit Black Coffee, while Fawn mentioned about going 'to Wonderland' in a riddle, a hint to the Take That tour All Saints were the opening act for.
A hint to Natalie being Fawn came with mention of Down Under; eluding to her appearance on I'm A Celebrity.
And a further All Saints clue was dropped in the finale, but went flying over the heads of the panel. Bonus clues were given by the stars of The Chase after each of the performances, and Fawn's was an answer relating to the word Leo. However, not a single panellist managed to link that to the fact that All Saints' smash Pure Shores was on the soundtrack to Leonardo Di Caprio film The Beach.
Natalie finally revealed herself when Fawn bowed out of the final in third place, with Davina McCall telling her she had all of them 'flummoxed.'
