Maryland Governor Wes Moore has emphasized the extensive efforts required for the reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Governor highlighted that leaders from various local, state, and federal authorities are collaborating to secure the necessary funds for this significant project.
During a news conference held before the Orioles' home opener at Camden Yards, Governor Moore stressed the magnitude of the task at hand, stating that the rebuilding process will be a lengthy one. He mentioned, 'This work is not going to take hours, this work is not going to take days, this work is not going to take weeks; we have a very long road ahead of us.'
Furthermore, Governor Moore called for collective action, emphasizing that the reconstruction of the bridge would require the support and involvement of all individuals in the region. He urged everyone to play their part, stating, 'I’m calling on everybody to do their part. In this game, nobody gets to sit on the sidelines.'
Looking ahead optimistically, Governor Moore expressed confidence in the community's ability to come together for a common goal. He concluded by stating, 'Together, again we are going to have another reopening day — and that will be the reopening of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.'
