NetEase Games has officially unveiled "Marvel Rivals" Season 10, and the next chapter is bringing one of Marvel's most dangerous villains into the fight.
The new season will center on Gorr the God Butcher. It will also continue the game's ongoing story with a shocking moment involving Loki.
What Season 10 is Telling Us
In the Season 10 announcement trailer, Gorr launches an attack on Asgard. He eventually comes face-to-face with Loki, the God of Mischief. Gorr then uses the All-Black Necrosword to strike Loki.
The scene strongly suggests that Loki has been killed.
The apparent death is also reflected in the game. Loki is currently marked as dead and cannot be selected by players. This appears to be a temporary story development rather than a permanent removal.
There is still a chance Loki could return soon. "Marvel Rivals" Season 10 launches on September 11, giving NetEase plenty of room to reveal what really happened to the character.
Gorr's Marvel Rivals Abilities
Gorr will become a playable hero when Season 10 begins. He will join the Duelist class, meaning his kit will focus heavily on dealing damage.
His signature weapon is the All-Black Necrosword. The weapon can reportedly change forms during battle. This gives Gorr different ways to respond to enemies and changing combat situations.

Mobility is another major part of his gameplay.
Gorr can use dashes and teleportation to quickly move around the battlefield. These abilities could make him especially dangerous when chasing weaker opponents or escaping attacks.
His kit also includes Black Berserkers. After Gorr defeats enemies, he can create phantom versions of these creatures. They can continue attacking opponents and add more pressure during fights.
His ultimate takes the Necrosword to another level. It empowers the weapon and lets Gorr unleash a powerful barrage against his enemies. The attack can also summon stronger Black Berserkers, potentially turning the battlefield into chaos.
New God Quarry Map and Jeff Event
Season 10 will add God Quarry, a new Domination map where players can battle for control of key areas.
The update will also introduce the Jeff's Dream Eater event. It will feature several pajama-themed outfits for Marvel Rivals characters.
Despite previous rumors about more X-Men characters joining the roster, NetEase has confirmed that Gorr will be the only new hero arriving in Season 10.
'Marvel Rivals' Path to Doomsday Continues
The second half of Season 10 will continue the Path to Doomsday storyline, according to Polygon.
Phases three and four are expected to introduce new game modes. These modes will take inspiration from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers films. This means that fans should prepare for the larger story that's coming in the game.
