Marvel releases trailer for Secret Invasion, the new Disney+ series starring Samuel L Jackson

Marvel Studios has released an action-packed trailer for Secret Invasion, an espionage thriller starring Samuel L Jackson, which will air on Disney+.

Jackson will return as Nick Fury, the director of the SHIELD legion of superheroes, and the series will see his attempt to stop Skrull shapeshifters invading Earth.

The episodes were largely shot around London, with scenes also featured in West Yorkshire and Liverpool.

Emilia Clarke will join a cast of new and returning characters which will also include roles for Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Dermot Mulroney, Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Marvel debuted the trailer on Sunday (April 2), during a baseball match in the US, and said the series will be available to watch on the subscription service from June 21. It will consist of six episodes and is considered the first part of ‘phase five’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ali Selim directs the series and also executive-produces alongside a host of others, including Jackson himself.

The two-minute trailer begins in a forest and shows scenes around London, with Fury the “most wanted man in the world,” as he declares, This war is one I have to fight, alone,” before adding, “one last fight”.

On YouTube, the video was released on Monday (April 3) and clocked more than 1,000 views in its first hour.

And fans in the comments section are already excited.

“This better be good!” UncleBernhard wrote. “Really, really, really good! Winter Soldier good!”

Ewan Callister wrote: “Fury, Nicholas J has returned!”

Tyskenfan, however, said: “This show is gonna flop so hard.”

On Twitter, the video was teased with the rhetorical question, “Who do you trust?”

User @mmanomaly wrote: “With Marvel’s Secret Invasion coming in June, I have to wonder if the series will be as creepy/unnerving as the original comics were.”

Disney+ is available from £7.99 per month.
