Marvel is so secretive, Paul Bettany didn't even know he died in Avengers: Infinity War until the day it happened

Vision.

Marvel star Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the MCU, has revealed he didn't know he was dying in Avengers: Infinity War until the day it happened.

In the movie, Vision is at first emotionally killed by Scarlet Witch, sacrificing himself to destroy the Mind Stone lodged in his head. But, Thanos manipulates time to bring him back, then kills him all over again. Brutal.

When asked on the Happy Sad Confused podcast if he would be in Avengers: Secret Wars, Bettany responded: "I think so… As much as you know anything going on at Marvel, or they change their mind, you really do never know."

The Marvel secrecy is so intense that the cast members who found themselves turning to dust in Infinity War didn't find out until the very last minute. "When we all died, we found out that day," he added. "They took us into a trailer with pre-vis, and everybody was sitting watching the screen going, 'Oh, I die.' Nobody knew. We didn't know… So you really don't know. They really do keep this stuff very secret."

Vision later returned in WandaVision, and he'll be back again soon in VisionQuest. That series is arriving on Disney Plus on October 14.

Avengers: Secret Wars, meanwhile, will follow on from this December's Avengers: Doomsday. That super-sized cast list includes everyone from the Fantastic Four to the Thunderbolts, the Fox era X-Men, and the likes of Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Anthony Mackie's Captain America.
