“Killers Of The Flower Moon” is filled with Oscar winning talent premiering on AppleTV+ led by Leonardo DiCaprio (“Catch Me If You Can”) and Robert DeNiro (“Taxi Driver”).
Martin Scorsese (“The Departed”) directs the feature film after his major success once again on “The Irishman” (2019) that streamed on Netflix.
The film also featured Lily Gladstone (“Billions” & “Winter In The Blood”), Jesse Plemons (“The Irishman” & “Battleship”), John Lithgow (“Cliffhanger” & “Love Is Strange”) and recent Academy award winner for best actor Brendan Fraser (“Crash” & “The Whale”).
The screenplay is based on a true story of an improbable romance between Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Gladstone) in the siege of romance and betrayal in the western crime saga.
Based on a true story, “Killers Of The Flower Moon” tracks the suspicious murders of the member of the Osage Nation.
The Osage Nation became the wealthiest people in the world overnight when they discovered oil underneath their land.
“An epic Western crime drama based on real and entirely stomach-turning events from roughly a century ago, the latest film from acclaimed director Martin Scorsese could be seen as so many things,” said Mark Meszoros in a film review in the Times-Herald.
The film was based on David Grann’s best-selling book, “Killers of the Flower Moon” where William Hale (DeNiro) was responsible for the murders in order to usurp the tribal nation’s wealth.
“We were children and, I think, meant to think that way of the forced assimilation, to a certain extent, of the Native populations,” said Scorsese in an interview with “The New Yorker’s” Richard Brody when creating the film. “But I didn’t know. When I got out there and I saw what it was, it was different.”
“Killers Of The Flower Moon” was premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival for its showcase.
The film relates to the investigations of the Oklahoma murders in the 1920s in an event that decimated the Osage tribe.
Red carpet premieres took place for the Film in Los Angeles, New York, and Mexico City.
“Even as you wish for the sum of its parts to be greater, there is much to appreciate with this film, including interestingly constructed scene after interestingly constructed scene,” said Meszoros in his review of the film. “Consultations with today’s Osage people, the inclusion of Osage cast members and the shooting of “Flower Moon” on location in Oklahoma on the Osage reservation.”
Scorsese has collaborated with both DiCaprio and DeNiro his films over the years that included Oscar winning films including “The Departed” (2006), “Goodfellas” (1990), and “Gangs Of New York” (2003).
