Martin Scorsese was “a little nervous” about his daughter becoming an actress.
The legendary filmmaker, 83, is protective of his daughter Francesca, 26 – who will appear in series two of Prime Video spy drama series Mr. Mrs. Smith – admitted he was worried about her entering the acting industry.
She told PEOPLE: “I felt a little rebellious - I’m not going to lie.
“But yeah, he’s been my rock and my support system. And whatever makes me happy, that’s what he wants for me.
Francesca – who has also starred in the HBO miniseries We Are Who We Are, along with movies including Roommates and Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point – still turns to her father for advice before taking on a new role.
She said: “Sometimes I’ll just come to him and I’ll be like, ‘Hey, by the way, I’m doing this. I hope it’s okay,’. He’s like my best friend. He knows everything about me, every little thing I’m doing. He’ll call me every day being like, ‘What are you doing? Are you doing your work?’ And I’m like, ‘Yes.’
“He’s the best and he knows all the ins and outs of my life, whether I like it or not. But no, I’m just kidding. I love it.”
And she cannot wait until Mr. and Mrs. Smith airs.
She said: “I’m freaking out. It’s great. I can’t say literally anything about it, but I’m having so much fun, and I’m so blessed and meeting so many incredible people.”
Meanwhile, Francesca previously admitted that she used to think the term “nepo baby” was a compliment.
She told the Zach Sang Show: “[There is a] big obsession with nepotism. It just became like a word that everyone started throwing around. And the funniest thing is I used to think it was a good thing.
“Then, the amount of hatred towards that was just so shocking to me.
“[Kids] just look up to their parents naturally. If my dad was a doctor, I’d probably be a doctor, you know what I mean?”
