Gavin Strachan has left Celtic to join West Bromwich Albion; both clubs have confirmed.

After six years, the 47-year-old has departed the Scottish Premiership champions, becoming a first-team coach at The Hawthorns under former player James Morrison.

Arriving at the club alongside fellow coach Tony McMahon, Morrison has praised his new coaching team. Speaking to club media, he said, “I’m delighted to add Gavin Strachan to the group.

"Having a new pair of eyes from somebody with Gavin’s experience will help us massively. He has worked alongside some top managers, like Martin O’Neill, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers, and will no doubt bring fresh ideas with him.

"They [the coaching team] make up what I believe is a strong group around me. They all have different personalities, qualities, and an excellent work ethic, which is important for what we want to do."

Additionally, Martin O'Neill has thanked Strachan for his efforts at Celtic, with the pair working together across two spells last season.

The returning manager said, “I have only really known Gavin for the past six months, but his contribution was vital to our success, and of course I wish him very well for the future in his new role.”
