Martin Lewis has made an impassioned appeal to the Government for more help as the UK's cost of living crisis escalates. The money saving expert, speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, the day before the energy price cap rises, warned: "The country needs more help".
He said it was "devastating and depressing" and he felt "sick in my stomach" at being unable to help people struggling with soaring bills. The consumer expert likened the current situation to the start of the pandemic before the announcement of the furlough scheme.
The difference this time, he said, was that "I'm not sure where the help comes from". And he warned that politicians must intervene before October when the energy price cap rises again.
