Martin Lewis has said he is 'disappointed' in one of his ITV colleagues after he was alerted to a surprising tweet. The money saving expert founder shared his thoughts after a Coronation Street fan revealed that Roy Cropper's cafe prices had risen by a whopping 112 per cent in three months.
The cost of living crisis clearly hit the cobbles last week when the eagle-eyed viewers spotted the big change in the much-loved character's prices in his beloved Roy's Rolls cafe on the famous street.
Sharing snaps of Roy’s menu boards, Twitter user @GregorSwanson revealed that pie, chips and mushy peas used to be £2.60 - but three months on the cost of the meal had more than doubled and had been increased to £5.50.

He wrote: "Inflation is real. Roy Cropper has had to put up the price of Pie, Chips & Mushy Peas by 112% in the last 3 months #CostOfLivingCrisis." And fans were quick to comment on the hilarious post, with one writing: "I genuinely love that you’ve done this."
Another said: "I texted my mate when I saw the curry had gone up!" A third Corrie fan observed: “Surely it was underpriced before?” A fourth wrote: "Wow, Roy Cropper really out here giving us a taste of that inflation pie. Can’t believe we’re living in a world where even our mushy peas are getting more expensive."
While a fifth joked: "Cropper the capitalist pig!" The Twitter user also cheekily tagged Martin and business and political editor Robert Peston in the post.
And it's taken until Monday (July 3) for Martin to respond as he tweeted: "I’m very disappointed in my ITV colleague Roy. If he keeps this up, he'll come a cropper."
The last time Roy's prices were being questioned were back in September 2021. Viewers were a little distracted while watching the cafe scenes at the time and were quick to ask Roy if he delivered. "Any body notice the Pie chips and mushy peas for £2.60 count me in," one fan said.
Another noted: "There is also a sign up in the Cafe for curry & rice £2.75, it's been there ever since I can remember." A third shared: "I'm going to Roy's Rolls... pie chips and mushy peas for £2.60 and full breakfast for £2.95 bargain!!" A fourth said: "Most shocking part of tonight was pie, chips and mushy peas for £2.50! Do you deliver?"
