Martin Lewis issues key advice to customers on fixed energy tariffs ahead of price cap shake-up

Martin Lewis has issued key advice for customers ahead of an energy price shakeup.

Industry predictions suggest energy regulator Ofgem will announce a £117 cut to the energy price cap on Wednesday (25 February), bringing the annual cost for a typical dual fuel household down to £1,641 from 1 April.

During the The Martin Lewis Money Show on Tuesday (24 February), Mr Lewis recommended customers shop about the market if they have no exit penalties.

“If you can find a cheaper fix than the fix that you're on, you may as well lock in on the cheaper fix. If you can't, you may as well stay on the cheap price that you're on right now.”

He advised people to start switching. “You're meant to be taking advantage of that competitive market.”
