Martin Lewis giving away money to some Twitter followers

Martin Lewis has announced he will give away cash after reaching the two million followers mark on Twitter.

The Money Saving Expert founder is known for his financial expertise to people who are struggling or in need of guidance. Mr Lewis is known for his switching and money-saving tips, but as the cost of living worsens, recent events have left even him at a loss at how to help people.

However, he has kindly offered to part with some of his own money in the spirit of helping others. Ahead of hitting the milestone, Mr Lewis said: "Wow I'm nearing 2m followers. So to say THANK YOU & promote small charities, I'll again donate £500 to charity picked by my 2000000th follower.

"[And] £500 to charity of randomly picked existing follower who replies".

He later added: "So many lovely charity tweets coming in. I'm going to do 1 x £500 for the 2millionth, and 3 x £500 for the existing follower picks."

At around 2pm on Monday, Mr Lewis amassed his two millionth follower. He tweeted : "WOW! 2,000,000 followers now hit. And I've clocked who was 2,000,000th and their charity, but I'll keep the nominations for existing followers (now 3 x £500) charities open until 8:30pm tonight - to give people who missed it time - and will announce who gets what then."
