Martin Lewis has urged households to check they are not seeing huge increases on energy bills - and revealed three reasons why energy suppliers could be overcharging for gas and electricity.
The MoneySavingExpert creator said one concerned reader disclosed that their monthly bills have soared from £86 to £251 - far over the 54% increase in the Ofgem price cap, the Mirror reported.
The energy supplier announced the price cap would increase from April 1, from £1,277 to £1,971 a year for those on a default tariff who pay by direct debit. This adds a hike of almost £700 on top of the average energy bill.
