Martin Lewis delights fans with his debut as regular host on Good Morning Britain

Martin Lewis made his debut as regular co-host on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday.

The Money Saving Expert, 50, was announced in his new presenting slot by ITV last week.

Lewis was seen alongside Susanna Reid on the show and kicked off his hosting duties with a segment titled ‘Wallet Wednesday’, which saw him answer money questions from the public amid the UK’s cost-of-living crisis.

The new presenter covered several money-centric topics ahead of the end of the tax year, including Marriage Tax Allowance, State Pension Buyback, ISAs, PPI, Broadband and Energy Tariffs.

Lewis answered viewers’ questions on money-saving advice on Wednesday’s episode (ITV)

Co-host Reid, 52, began the segment by saying: “Good to have you here, this is going to be a regular event that you come in. I call you the unofficial hero of the cost-of-living crisis and also the real Shadow Chancellor – no disrespect to the actual Shadow Chancellor!”

During the episode, Lewis was praised for his money-saving advice from viewers.

One person said they managed to decrease their grandmother’s phone bill from £47 per month to 99p for the first six months and then £4.99 a month afterwards, while another said they received nearly £1,000 back from a HMRC tax refund.

Lewis shared photos from onset following his first day as GMB co-host on Instagram.

The money-saving advisor was seen beaming alongside Reid in studio, and seen in another snap smiling as he exited the ITV building on a run home.

“OK I’m now finished at @gmb for the day, great to be alongside the powerhouse @susannareid100 again,” Lewis captioned. “Now going to run home and get ready for five live then an afternoon of meets in MSE Towers.”

Fans shared their delighted reactions to Lewis’ first day in his new presenting post in the comment section.

One person wrote: “@martinlewismse brilliant & informative as always thanks Martin!”

“Your hard work and effort always pay off. A success well served an occasion worth celebrating. A big thanks to you,” a second said.

“Thank you for all you do for us,” another viewer added.

Lewis’s debut in his regular co-hosting slot comes after Chancellor Jeremy Hunt referenced his instrumental contribution to the 2023 Budget in his address to the House of Commons last week.
