Martin Lewis has had to let his fans down gently after they made pleas to Good Morning Britain to keep him as a host permanently.
The money guru has been back on the ITV news programme this week as he hosted the show alongside Susanna Reid after a few previous stints in the hot seat. Martin has become a part of GMB's changing male line-up following Piers Morgan's sudden exit last March and has been brought back on multiple occasions following his first successful stint early last year.
And the show's viewers have also been left making a demand since Martin returned to the show. A number say they are very much hoping he gets a permanent slot, replacing the likes of Richard Madeley.
"Pls pls pls can @martinlewis and @adilray be main @GMB presenters?? ! can't watch Mon-Wed when ghastly, tactless, Richard Madeley is on. He's got no depth of knowledge and is unwatchable. The other two have empathy and interesting backgrounds. #gmb," @SunderlandLolly tweeted
"Please keep @MartinSLewis on as a presenter. He is so knowledgeable and able to take people to task," @KateS03542709 begged.
@BettyBoopilito asked Martin: "Please can you be the permanent presenter with Susanna in the mornings?"
"#GMB @GMB Can I make a suggestion, pls? Can Ranvir Singh & Martin Lewis be permanent main presenters together instead of changing ppl? It’s annoying not knowing who’s face will be on my TV each morning. Makes me turn the channel but those two know their stuff & mean business," @lesleyarenshaw wrote.
But Martin has since shared some bad news. The Money Saving Expert founder took to Twitter after appearing on Thursday's GMB to thank viewers for their messages but that due to his workload, he won’t be able to present the show as often as they'd like him to
"Many kind comments about me doing @GMB more permanently," he tweeted. "Sadly the workload & hours mean its not compatible with my day job, so I can’t do more. Shame, as I enjoy the challenge.”
He then continued, writing: "Yet being the Money Saving Expert is m’calling & where I think I’ve most impact. I can’t risk that."
Responding to the news, @DaniRussell16 said: "@MartinSLewis is doing brilliant work! That’s a real shame you can’t commit more to it as you and the wonderful @susannareid100 make a fantastic team. Well done to you both."
"It's understandable but such a shame. You've made such a difference to what is already an excellent programme," @Dinx53599371 commented.
@BeauportJames shared: "Martin. Can you get cloned so you can be the consumer financial expert as well as host GMB, in fact can we get a 3rd so you can run the country as well. Asking for the country."
"That’s a shame. You are quite simply the best presenter out of all the recent ones. People like you for who you are and what you do for them," @SpecialMe44 added.
