Schalke have no plans to discuss a new contract with Rangers -linked goalkeeper Martin Fraisl.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been linked with a move for the 28-year-old as he prepares to move on from the 2. Bundesliga side in the summer.
Fraisl only arrived in Germany from Dutch side ADO Den Haag last summer, signing a one-year deal in the expectation he would be a. backup option.
But the Austrian has impressed this season, taking over from Ralf Fahrmann as first choice.
Norwich City have also been credited with an interest but Schalke sporting director Rouven Schroder says the club are not currently discussing a renewal with the player.
He said: "With specific regards to Martin Fraisl - he's doing an excellent job.
"We're monitoring his situation closely, but our focus is currently on day-to-day business and therefore, there will not be any concrete contract talks with him in the near future."
Rangers No.1 Allan McGregor became just the third player to feature in an Old Firm game after the age of 40 last week in their 3-0 defeat at Celtic.
And while Rangers have agreed a new deal with Scotland squad member Jon McLaughlin, they will be looking for goalkeeping options for next season and would be able to land Fraisl on a free.
