Martin Fraisl tells Rangers and other transfer suitors he's following the Allan McGregor blueprint

Rangers target Martin Fraisl insists he has a 'body of an 18-year-old' as he plans to play into his 40s.

The 28-year-old Schalke shot stopper has been strongly linked with a move to Ibrox in the summer, with question marks over the future of Rangers' 40-year-old veteran Allan McGregor.

Fraisl is out of contract at the end of the season and the Austrian seems certain to leave the Bundesliga 2 club just a year after he signed from Dutch outfit Den Haag.

And he maintains he still has 14 years left of his career because he was a late starter in football and has been tipped to join Gio van Bronckhorst 's side who are gearing up for their Europa League quarter final.

He said: "I have made it my aim to play the last ten years at least of my professional career at the same club. I want to play at a high level until I'm 42.

"Because I started football so late, my body resembles that of an 18-year-old. This has been repeatedly confirmed to me by the medical department based on my fitness levels.

"I've never had an injury and haven't missed a training session in the past five years.

"I used the international week to create a profile for myself. I have clearly structured which countries or clubs could come into question for me and what I want or don't want.

"Basically, I looked at how I define myself and where I could fit in.

"We'll see if I stay at Schalke or not, but certainly there are no new contract extension talks. I feel a lot of respect for the club and they will be the first to know my decision."
