Martin Compston tells Lorraine about his ideal Scottish hangover cure

Line of Duty star and regular on our TV screens Martin Compston was on Lorraine on Thursday morning, to chat about his new ITV drama Our House - and let viewers in on a secret to the perfect hangover cure.

The Scottish star was on the daytime programme to discuss the final episode of his new ITV thriller featuring himself as bad guy Bram Lawson, locked into an estranged relationship with Fi (Tuppence Middleton).

Full of praise for his co-star, Martin said: "I mean it’s kind of a nightmare situation, but that’s the beauty of working with Tuppence, she is such a fantastic actress, and really is so good at leading the charge as the number one in the show.

“It really is such an unbelievable scenario to find yourself in, but the force of her talent is immense, and you’re just forced to go along with her journey.”

Lorraine mentioned that she wouldn't know what to do in Fi's situation, to which Martin jokingly replied: "You being from Dundee, you’d end up lamping somebody!”

The conversation moved onto Martin's influence on his fellow actors and actresses, as he has got Schitt's Creek actress Emily Hampshire hooked onto a Scottish delicacy.

Martin said: "Yeah Emily’s great, she’s obsessed with sodas and always has a diet coke in her hand, and so I said well if you’re in Scotland and you need a can of something in your hand all the time, then it should be an Irn Bru.

“So one sip of it and she was hooked.”

Lorraine noted that a can of Irn Bru was the best remedy for a thumping hangover in her opinion, to which Martin raised her one better.

The 37-year-old said: " Yeah an Irn Bru and a roll on square sausage, a roll and slice, that’s the one!”

Given that Martin is a proud Scot, Irn Bru is a favourite in his household, with this photo showing his serious obsession with the ginger-coloured fizzy drink.

The final episode of Our House featuring Martin Compston airs tonight at 9pm on ITV, with the other three episodes available for catch-up on the ITV Hub.
