Martin Compston set to star in new Scottish travel show for BBC

Martin Compston is set to travel around Scotland for a brand new BBC show.

Greenock -born Martin is set to team up with Phil MacHugh as the duo explore their native country in six-part travel series, Scottish Fling.

The Line of Duty star is 'excited' to get started on his new project, as he leaves his Las Vegas lifestyle behind to travel his homeland.

Martin, 37, isn't the only Scotsman to create a travel series showcasing the country - Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish teamed up to create Men in Kilts for Starz.

He said: "I've travelled all over the country for work and leisure - but this is the first time I'll be meeting real modern Scots on camera, sharing their thoughts and passions.

"We're excited to get stuck in, and to experience the best that Scotland has to offer in the 21st century."

Phil MacHugh added: “Scotland has so much to offer the world and as a modern Scot, I am so excited to be joining my mate Martin to showcase the best of our culture, our language and our spirit in this brand new series.

“It's going to be lots of fun and full of surprises.”

The duo hope to find out “what makes modern Scotland tick” and how the nation is being shaped by its people and landscape.

Their travels take them from the wild highlands to the bustling cities and places off the beaten track.

David Marshall, Head of Entertainment, Tern Television, says: “Marrying Britain’s top talent with their passions is a Tern sweet spot.

"Martin is royalty in Scotland and a passionate patriot, so who better to take viewers on an entertaining journey. But this series isn’t just a sedate tour of the familiar sites – it’s a visceral and experiential trip, contrasting hilarious moments and fascinating revelations with universal themes of identity, friendship and social good.”

Martin is currently on TV at the moment in the brand new ITV drama Our House, seeing the Scots actor in a womanising role.

Our House continues on ITV tonight at 9pm.
