Martin Compston has revealed he is the culprit for his son speaking his first swear word.
The tot is clearly following in his dad's footsteps and is a natural at learning lines, after repeating an expletive following Martin's foul-mouthed rant. The Greenock born actor, who is best known for his role as Steve Arnott in hit BBC drama Line of Duty, was left stunned to hear his toddler son repeat back the f-word after Martin said it in earshot.
Speaking on his podcast, Restless Natives, which he hosts with pal Gordon Smart, the Our House actor said: “I heard the wee man’s first swear word. I had to get the extension cable to charge the laptop and while Tianna the tech guru was sorting it, I ran out and I tripped over the extension cord."
He added: “I went a**e over t*t and shouted, ‘For f**k sake.’ I then heard from the playroom coming back, ‘For f**k sake’. I went, ‘Oh no, wee man’."
However, he hoped to keep the incident a secret from his wife Tianna as she didn't hear it. He continued: "He was repeating it. I might get away with it because she didn’t hear it.”
He said: "I suppose if he is doing it in a Scottish accent, there’s not many around here.”
This comes after Martin has revealed his highly anticipated new show, The Rig, will air in the new year on Amazon Prime. The brand new drama will be out on January 6, 2023.
The series takes place on the Kishorn Bravo oil rig, located off the coast of Scotland and the synopsis reveals the crew are left cut off from the mainland after a mysterious fog envelops them.
This leads to tensions on board the vessel with the crew "driven to the limits of both their loyalties and their endurance, into a confrontation with forces beyond their imagination".
The Scots actor stars alongside Iain Glen, Emily Hampshire and Mark Bonnar. Iain Glen will portray Magnus MacMillan, the leader of the crew and the offshore installation manager of the rig. Meanwhile Compston, who is set to play a communications officer called Fulmer Hamilton, will be reunited with his Line of Duty cast mates Rochenda Sandall, Owen Teale, and Mark Bonnar.
Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire will also appear in the six-part drama as scientist Rose Mason.
