Martin Compston among stars to grace Glasgow Film Festival red carpet

It's awards season in the UK, which means a whole host of stars arriving on our Glasgow streets.

And it's official that one fourth of the best of AC-12 (we can't forget Chloe, of course) will be gracing the red carpet on March 2-13.

Famous faces coming to town include the likes of Alan Cumming, Armando Iannucci, Jack Lowden and, of course, Martin Compston.

Alan Cumming, Lulu, Dawn Steele and director Jono McLeod will attend the the European premiere of My Old School, the incredible true story of Bearsden Academy pupil Brandon Lee and his unmasking as a 30-something trying to restart his life on March 3.

Glasgow-born creative force Armando Iannucci with a very special live ‘In Conversation’ event, looking back over his wide-ranging, multi-media career distinguished by his brilliant feel for character, unforgettable dialogue and razor-sharp wit on March 6.

Martin Compston will also attend a 20th anniversary screening of the film that launched his career as one of Scotland’s most high-profile actors, Sweet Sixteen, alongside fellow cast and crew including Rebecca O'Brien and Paul Laverty.

GFF will also welcome acclaimed and up-and-coming behind-the-camera talents including Scottish director Ruth Paxton for the Scottish premiere of her highly anticipated debut feature A Banquet, alongside lead actor Sienna Guillory on March 5, and GFF favourite Iciar Bollain with the UK premiere of Maixabel, a powerful and moving insight into modern day Spain that recently won three of the country’s prestigious Goya Awards on March 8.

The eighteenth annual celebration of cinema will host 10 World premieres, 4 European premieres, 65 UK premieres, and 13 Scottish premieres. Tickets to all events are on sale now here, and more events will be added on each day of the festival.
