Martin Brundle relished the chance of swapping roles with Keanu Reeves as the Hollywood A-lister visited Silverstone for qualifying on Saturday.
The British Grand Prix has long been a huge event for attracting huge celebrities, and it appears this year's edition will be no different. Among the big names present for qualifying on Saturday was Reeves, star of The Matrix and John Wick films.
One of the 57-year-old's upcoming roles involves Formula 1, hence his appearance at Silverstone to take in the sport first-hand. He will be the host of a new documentary revisiting the 2009 season and the incredible impact of the Brawn GP team which raced to the title in its one and only season.
"Hopefully I will get to talk to you, and I'll be the interviewer – I'll be interviewing you" said the Canadian as he revealed his role in the project to Brundle live on Sky Sports F1. The presenter appeared to be up for that, as he responded: "Let's swap roles then!"
Reeves also talked about the qualifying session he had taken in on Saturday, revealing how much he had enjoyed the action-packed session at Silverstone: "It was wet but it was thrilling," he said. "It was absolutely amazing to be that close. Silverstone and rain, perfect.
"I think being that close to it, just seeing the speed and the way that they’re going at the turns and exiting the turns is something unbelievable. We are being hosted by Ross Brawn, he has been a legend and is such an amazing person so it was really cool to meet him and spend some time with him, he offered us the chance to be here.
"That's what we are going to try and do, we are going to tell that amazing, remarkable story [of Brawn's 2009 season]. There is so much to talk about, I mean you [Brundle] were there!"
Qualifying saw Carlos Sainz secure the first pole position of his F1 career, ahead of what will be his 150th race start in the sport. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was forced to settle for second on the grid, and was loudly booed by the Silverstone crowd as he gave a post-session interview on the track.
