Hibs are set to pull off a sensational return for Martin Boyle after Al-Faisaly announced they'd accepted a bid from Easter Road. The Edinburgh side have been working on a deal to bring the club hero back to Leith following his big-money departure for Saudi Arabia back in January.
And there's now been a breakthrough in negotiations that puts the Australia international on the brink of a Scottish Premiership comeback. The 29-year-old former Montrose and Dundee winger's absence was keenly felt at Hibs in the latter half of last season and his capture will come as a timely boost for manager Lee Johnson.
A statement from Al Faisaly on Saturday morning confirmed a deal had been struck with the Hibees as they bid Boyle good luck after a short spell at the club.. A spokesperson said: "The club's management has agreed to an offer from Scottish club Hibernian on the transfer of Australian first-team player Martin Boyle, wishing him more success."
Hibs confirmed a deal for Boyle shortly after and revealed plans to parade the forward to fans ahead of Sunday's Edinburgh derby showdown with Hearts. A Hibs statement said: "We can confirm that Hibernian FC has come to an agreement with Al-Faisaly FC for the transfer of Martin Boyle.
"We will announce Boyle back to the Hibernian FC faithful on Sunday ahead of our game against Hearts, so make sure you arrive 15 minutes early. Further information regarding the transfer and Boyle’s contract will be revealed to supporters in due course.
"Everyone at Hibernian FC is delighted to see Boyle return to the club!"
